Increasingly crowded skies and faster, more sophisticated airplanes have made the pilot’s responsibilities greater than even a decade ago. In a constant effort to reduce the pilot’s burden of scanning many instruments, Collins has developed the FD-108 Integrated Flight Systems. These have gained enthusiastic acceptance by airline, military and general aviation pilots.
The FD-108’s three-dimensional flight indicator eliminates parallax, making it easier for the pilot to get a true visual picture of his airplane’s attitude. The yellow V-bar provides the pilot one source of command information to fly selected heading, voR/LOC course information and desired pitch attitude.
Two FD-108 systems are available.
A manual system features the mode selector mounted on the flight director in-dicator. The automatic system has the mode selector located in a remote mode control. An autopilot tie-in is accomplished with the AP-103E/FD-108 Automatic Pilot-Integrated Flight Director System. These options provide flexibility in meeting different requirements.
